What are prebiotics?
Prebiotics are non-digestible food components — primarily dietary fibers — that pass through the upper gastrointestinal tract and reach the colon, where they may serve as substrates for the gut microbiota.

How the score is calculated
Your score is based on two factors: variety (the number of distinct prebiotic-containing foods you eat) and richness (how fiber-dense each food is, rated 1–10). Maximum is 100 per day.
This score is illustrative only and is not a clinical measure of gut health.
Plant species diversity
The Plant Species Log tracks the number of unique plant species you consume each week — including foods with lower prebiotic scores. This count is distinct from the prebiotic score, which focuses specifically on prebiotic fiber content and richness.
