What are prebiotics?
Prebiotics are non-digestible food components — primarily dietary fibers — that pass through the upper gastrointestinal tract and reach the colon, where they may serve as substrates for the gut microbiota.

About the prebiotic richness bar
The prebiotic richness bar is a visual indicator based on two factors: the variety of distinct prebiotic-containing foods you have logged, and the relative prebiotic richness of each food (based on a low, medium, high value). This indicator is illustrative only and is not a validated clinical measure of gut health. For general informational purposes only.
Plant species diversity
The Plant Species Log tracks the number of unique plant species you consume each week — including foods with lower prebiotic scores. This count is distinct from the prebiotic richness bar, which reflects the fiber diversity and density of foods logged.

Understanding the Scanner Ingredient List
For dishes, packaged products, and multi-ingredient items, Prebiotos displays a list of detected ingredients. Each ingredient is classified automatically — but you can always edit, add, or remove ingredients before logging.
Checked ingredient — identified as a whole plant food. Will count toward your weekly plant species diversity log. Prebiotic content is analyzed separately.
Unchecked ingredient — identified as a plant ingredient but not considered present in significant amounts — for example, a spice extract or trace additive. Unchecked by default. You can check it to include it if you believe it is present in meaningful amounts.
Greyed out ingredient — identified as an animal product, additive, oil, sugar, or non-plant ingredient. Shown for reference but not logged toward your plant species count.
Add ingredient — if the scanner missed an ingredient, tap here to add it manually. Type the ingredient name and it will be analyzed and classified automatically.
Remove — tap to delete any ingredient you believe is incorrect or irrelevant before logging.
